Dove - Unseen Texts
In pairs or 3's, analyse one of these unseen texts and map out your ideas on A3 paper or digitally in Canva (each group should have a different advert).
You should focus upon:
- Media language
- Representation
- Audience positioning
- Three of our theories should be applied and explained
You are going to present your analysis to the rest of the class.
Individually, answer the following questions:
1. Which advert presents the most stereotypical representation of a parent and child? Explain why.
2. What advert is most counter-stereotypical and why?
3. What brand values does each advert encode?
4. Explain how Vivvi uses written codes to create meanings.
5. How does the Johnson and Johnson advert aim to encode a sense of reassurance to parents.
6. When do you think the Mothercare advert was produced, and why?
